Fish Respiration

Jaime Thompson

The purpose of this entry is to explain how fish breathe through their gills.

Fish Respiration by Jaime Thompson This image illustrates how fish respire (Or breathe) water, a common event most know but is not always explained. This work covers the path water takes through the gills, the gill filaments, and how the oxygen concentration changes for both water and the blood within the gills. The drawing was created by digitally inking and painting over a series of sketches with a tablet, to make a clear and bright image very much like those found in textbooks.
