The creation of fireworks involves knowledge of chemistry (what materials to include to get the desired colors), physics/dynamics (what amounts of combustible charge should be included to launch the object properly), and artistry (what colors, shapes, patterns, and sounds should the firework emit such that it is enjoyable to watch). This picture is an extremely clear, focused close-up of the instant when a firework is detonating, a rather difficult shot to obtain.
