Halo at 12° North

Janeen and Brad Putman

Halo at 12° North by Janeen and Brad Putman This image of a 22° halo around the sun was captured with an iPhone while relaxing in a lounge chair by a pool in Aruba (12° North of the Equator). This type of halo is formed when sunlight is refracted in millions of ice crystals floating in the atmosphere and the radius of the halo is approximately 22° around the sun. This halo marks our happy place in the Caribbean.
