Exposition by Hetal Maharaja This is an electron image of alumina ceramic strengthened by titanium refractory, a wear-resistant composite material popularly used as cutting tool component. It captures microscale details of composite surface wear as a result of mechanical and chemical agitation in a test environment. With other chemical techniques, it assists understanding of the factors degrading such high caliber composite that leads to improved material design. By looking at different perspectives of the same image, vibrancy of features are revealed that were hidden in the monochrome. The Human Psyche is also not black and white. Like the image, it has hidden multifaceted beauty.
