When Worlds Collide by Robert Bellinger

Just as air was forced out of the water as it froze and formed bubbles in the ice, air in these glass orbs was forced out by subfreezing temperatures. As the marbles and the surrounding water froze overnight, the air escaping from the marbles forced its way through the forming ice, creating elongated air bubbles that resemble glass spines. The universe for these marbles is a birdbath. Photo taken with a Nikon Cool Pix P5000.
